Pacific White (panaeus vannamei) shrimp - Post larvae (seed stock) comes from the Harlingen Shrimp
Farms and from Shrimp Improvement Systems in Florida, which provides certified
disease free post larvae. - Ponds are stocked with post larvae annually in April and May. - With the addition of Bowers Valley
Shrimp, we are now one of the largest producers of farm-raised domestic shrimp
in the United States. Grain-Fed - Farm raised shrimp are grain-fed five times a day and are
grown out in aerated bay water, where the iodine is not as high as in the gulf. Key Factors - The intake of water supply. - The close monitoring of the growth of the shrimp and the pond conditions.
The Harvest - Harvest takes place during September and October annually.
Shrimp Vats - As shrimp are caught during harvest, they immediately fall
into a blue vat of ice slush for a quick chill-kill to insure the freshness and
quality of the shrimp.
Bowers Shrimp Processing Plant - Bowers Shrimp processing plant is a new state-of-the-art
facility which meets all regulations and allows us to
accurately weigh, process, package, and store our unique crop. - Refrigeration is a must. In accordance
with the FDA's HACCP Program our shrimp constantly monitored for the correct
temperature. New facility is refrigerated to maintain shrimp temperature
below 45 degrees during processing and at -20 degrees during cold storage. - Facility will process up to 80,000 to 100,000 pounds of shrimp per day.
The Quick Freeze Process - Immediate processing of the shrimp assures absolute
freshness. - Shrimp are Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) and block frozen using liquid nitrogen with a 12% to 13% glaze that protects the shrimp.
- All Bowers Shrimp are stored at Sub Zero degrees
temperatures to guarantee a consistently fresh and flavorful product.
