In 1995, Bowers Shrimp started offering Tex Mar Shrimp. Tex Mar Shrimp are farm-raised off the coast of Belize, Central America. Tex Mar Shrimp continues in the family tradition of producing a premium product. Tex Mar Ltd. operates 56 ponds on 243 acres where the latest aquaculture technology is applied. Growing Tex Mar Shrimp are grown in the exotic blue water of the Caribbean. The Tex Mar Shrimp are Pacific White shrimp (penaeus vannemai) and are fed several times a day. Harvest The tropical climate allows us to harvest 2-3 times a year. This allows you to enjoy the exceptional taste of Bowers Shrimp year round. When each crop reaches a marketable size, the shrimp are harvested. Harvested shrimp immediately fall into a vat of ice slush for an instantaneous chill-kill, which ensures freshness and quality. From the farm to you, Tex Mar shrimp are continually monitored for the correct temperature. We begin with the ice-slush during harvest and constantly maintain a sub zero storage temperature of the finished product.
Processing Immediately after harvest, Tex Mar Shrimp are taken to a local Belize processor, where they are block frozen in one of the most modern & up-to-date plants in the world. Through meticulous sanitary processing and temperature control, we carefully monitor, weigh, package, and store our unique crop. From pond harvest to customer delivery, the premium quality of Tex Mar Shrimp is provided to you, the customer.
